You have spent nine months carrying your baby (or babies) and it is time to head off to the hospital to give birth. It is a good idea to pack your hospital bag some weeks before your due date so the bag is ready for you to pick up and head to the hospital (it will be the last thing on your mind when you fall into labor and need to fly off to the hospital).

Below is a list to help with preparing your bags for the hospital – both for yourself mum and your new bundle

Mum

Night Wear

you might be more comfortable in your pj’s than the hospital gown
slippers/socks you don’t want to walk barefoot in the hospital and your feet can get cold
underwear disposable ones would be advisable, or old comfy ones
sanitary pads thick absorbent ones are advisable as post delivery bleeding can be heavy
Nursing bra/pads Nursing bra and pads to make breastfeeding more comfortable

Toiletries

toothbrush/toothpaste, hairbrush, deodorant, bathing towel, soap etc

Phone Charger/Camera

You will be taking pictures and you wont want your phone to run out of battery

ipod

Incase where you need some entertainment

Going Home clothes

You will want to look nice when you are leaving :)

Baby

blanket newborns like to be swaddled after birth to keep them warm
nappies and diaper cream for their new bottom and avoid diaper rash
bodysuits and onesies 2 -3 of each
burp cloth and bibs 2 – 3 of each
baby towel and wash cloth one towel (hooded) and perhaps 3 washcloths
baby shampoo/wash/lotion one set
socks/booties 2 pairs
hat one
mittens 2 sets – finger nails can be very sharp so this protects them from scratching their faces
baby going home outfit Anything you want! Don’t forget the blanket.
