Please introduce yourself and your background?
Mrs A. S. Nwankwo is CBIS Director. Mrs Nwankwo whose work experience spans over 22 years both in Nigeria, Cameroun and the United States, is an Early Childhood Education Specialist, a Certified School Director, and a Legal Practitioner. She speaks 4 languages, and is married with 4 children.
What is the name of the School and when was it founded?
Cypress Bay Int’l School was founded in August 2011.
Where is the school located?
10 Albert Iyorah Street, Off Babatunde Anjous Street, off Adm ralty Way, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos
Please give details of your staff/administration?
Our team consists of highly qualified Nigerians and expatriate teachers, with diverse backgrounds and outstanding teaching experiences. We also provide periodic local and international training opportunities for our staff. Mrs A. S. Nwankwo is CBIS Director and Mrs B. Martins is the School Administrator.
Ratio of kids to teachers?
We strictly follow the American standard, and this depends on the ages of the children.
Number of children in the school and the capacity?
The number of children we have right now is 12, and our capacity is 60.
What age range are your students? And classes?
children 6 weeks – 6 years.
What is the curriculum/teaching methodology?
We offer the American curriculum, and teach the children in English, French and Spanish.
Extra-curricular activities available? School Hours and any after school services offered?
Our School Hours are 8:00a.m. – 2:00p.m and extended Hours: 6:30a.m. – 7:30p.m. We have after-school activities for children of all ages ranging from French, Spanish, Tutoring, Swimming, Reading, Karate, Ballet, Music and many more from 2:30pm to 6:30pm. We also have Saturday fun days between 10am and 2pm.
What is the admission process? deadline? Is it rolling?
The application process at CBIS is made simple. When the necessary application forms are completed and tution is paid, the application process is complete. Admission at CBIS is done on a first come first serve basis.
Tuition? Is there a payment plan for parents?
The tuition depends also on the class. We have a per term payment plan, so people who cannot do not have to pay per annum.
How do you assess students’ progress?
Assessment is continuous, as in the typical American system. The children are assessed on their individual progress bearing in mind their own abilities.
Discipline methods?
We discipline them by having a conversation about the misbehaviour and then having them sit on a designated seat to think about what they just did.
Do you offer a school bus service?
Yes, We do have a bus service.
What should parents be looking for to decide if your school would work for them/their children?
Basically, in deciding whether a particular school is the right place for a child, parents should consider the needs of their child, the location/situation of the school, the hours of operation of the school, the cleanliness and general ambience of the school, the availability of sufficient educational equipment, whether the teachers are competent and well-qualified, the leadership of the school, etc.
How is your school preparing children for learning and operating in the 21st century?
To excel in the 21st century, in addition to academic proficiency, one would need to be able to speak multiple international languages, be well-travelled and exposed to various cultures, these and many more are at the core of the reason-for-being of Cypress Bay International School.

We would like to add that we are mums like yourselves, and we also want the best for our kids, and we strive daily, to provide an atmosphere where children will grow, and blossom and thrive. And we look forward to taking care of your child.
