It’s that time of the year again- SUMMER!
The CHRYSALIS Early Childhood School know you are wondering what activities will be best to engage your child in, so they have decided take some time to tell you about the one-of-a-kind camp!
WHAT THEY DO
This is a unique camp because the classes are structured to ensure there is an effective balance between work and play!
They believe the children should have fun but also know the importance of building blocks towards the learning objectives they have to achieve in the next academic year.
Thus, the Summer camp is a great place to consolidate previous learning, make up for time lost and create a great foundation for the next academic year. To achieve this, their lessons are fun, pupil-led and linked to real-life experiences. They focus on the different strands of literacy such as phonics, vocabulary development, reading, handwriting, creative writing, comprehension and drama.
Even for the very little humans, aspects of literacy can be broken into bits and bobs such as listening to stories, sequencing events in stories and nursery rhymes, engaging in well-layered pre-writing skills activities, basic but structured phonics sessions deliberately linked to arts, science and other areas of learning!
Our numeracy sessions are also fun and engaging with topics linked to things around us, making the children build an interest in numeracy as the right foundation is being laid.
The Fun Bit!
They work hard, but also PLAY HARD and engage in several fun activities such as art and crafts, sketching, chess, board games, puzzles, music, drama, gardening, sewing, cookery, storytime, documentaries and movie time!

Music Explorers Summer Clubs & Private Home Tuition
Banish boredom this summer with private home tuition and/or our highly popular music explorers summer camp with engaging, age-appropriate activities for children aged 0-12 years as outlined below:
Summer Boogie Babies for 0-3-year-olds: Boogie Babies are fun music and movement classes for babies, toddlers and their carers, incorporating percussion instruments, singing and rhythm exercises.
Mini Music Explorers for 4-5-year-olds: A piano-based introduction to music learning, where the children learn to play familiar tunes on the piano or keyboard by rote, play a variety of games to develop music skills and generally have fun!
Junior Music Explorers for 6-9-year-olds: Junior Music Explorers have fun learning to play familiar tunes on a variety of instruments and prepare to deliver a recorded presentation to friends and family at the end of the week.
If desired, the children can choose a different instrument each week but must stick to that instrument for the duration of the week.
The children will also learn other topics such as digital music production, African music history, songwriting and more!
Senior Music Explorers for 10-12-year-olds: will follow the same scheme of work as the Junior Music Explorers, adjusted for age and ability.

Tech and Entrepreneurship Summer Camp
The Highlights for this Summer will be as follows:
- Students will work in groups to develop their business plans, build websites, digitally market their products/services and pitch to a panel
- Lessons will be delivered virtually via Zoom while Edmodo will be used to manage classes, projects and assignments.
- Facilitators will be available online to attend to students’ queries within 24 hours
- Participants will be divided into Elementary and Secondary sections for proper tuition
