What is Google Science Fair?

The Google Science Fair is an annual global online science and engineering competition open to individuals and teams from ages 13 to 18.
 

Who is Eligible?

Competition is open to individuals born between 21 February 1997 and 17 May 2003 (inclusive). No individual can register for or enter the Competition until they turn 13. If an Entrant turns 19 during submission period they will not be disqualified. All Entrants must have permission from a parent or legal guardian to enter this Competition. Sponsor reserves the right to verify an individual’s eligibility to participate in the Competition.

How would I enter the competition?

To enter: Submit one (1) Entry either as an individual or as part of a group (“Team”) comprised of up to three (3) persons.
Entrants can select one (1) of the following topics as a main topic and up to two (2) sub topics for their Entry:

● Food Science
● Earth & Environmental Sciences
● Inventions & Innovation
● Electricity & Electronics
● Robotics
● Biology
● Chemistry
● Physics
● Behavioral & Social Sciences
● Energy & Space
● Astrophysics 6
● Computer Science & Math

Deadline for Submission

Entries closes by 12 midnight of 17th May 2016.
 

What does your student stand to gain?

The Community Impact awards will go to 5 students trying to make their world a better place. The five winners from Europe, North America, Latin America, Asia Pacific and Africa+the Middle East will all be celebrated at local events and given a $1,000 scholarship and mentorship to further develop their project.
16 Global finalist travel to Google office in Mountain View USA in September and the best will receive an award.
To celebrate projects from all areas of science, we’ve teamed up with our partners to offer the following once-in-a-lifetime experiential awards: The Scientific American Innovator Award, The LEGO EDU Builder Award, The Virgin Galactic Pioneer Award and The National Geographic Explorer Award. All of these awards include mentorship, a scholarship and a trip!
It will be amazing to have Nigeria students participating in this year competition and possibly win the Africa Community Impact award.
