I am interested in signing up for fitness classes at a gym or studio in the Lekki or VI area that is not too expensive – any suggestions would be helpful. Preferably one with one on one fitness trainers as well. Thanks

The gym at Four Points by Sheraton is really good. They’ve got a good selection of fitness classes in the morning and evening at a decent price. And they’ve got personal trainers as well.

Aerobics at Pro Flex, Ozumba are great. Also try Zumba at the Life House on Tuesdays.

I do agree with you Yetunde but you know sometimes it can be difficult to stick to dem. For someone like me dat doesn’t have a maid, sometimes d chores in the house can be so overwhelming, i can barely get on a thread mill nor even try out some few skips. The guilt eats me up daily, the only thing i have found easy was to watch what i ate. Though the process is slow but it helps me sleep better at night that i am making some effort……

Thanks for the tips, they always seem so easy but i really struggle with the discipline to watch what i eat and feel working out is necessary but can never find the time to get to the gym. Could you suggest some of the ways you watch what you eat? also could you recommend some meals that are nutritious, healthy and easy to make using our foodstuff here? based on your experiences?

Healthy recipes are made from alkaline ingredients like fruits and vegetables, especially green leafy vegetables. Nigerian soups like egusi soup, edi ka ikong, ewedu soup are very healthy. Foods to avoid when trying to loose weight or generally eat healthy are acidic foods like pork, red meat, pastries, soft drinks and alcohol and so much more. Kindly try to google acidic and alkaline foods for a full list. A healthy diet should consist of 80% alkaline foods. Try to eat a salad with every meal (no dressing) or a fruit after every meal. Paw paws, oranges, watermelon and pineapples are readily available in Nigeria and affordable.

I’m glad that you are a person with strong will and you want to exercise to lose weight. I don’t like people, who prefer to purchase diet pills online and do nothing, waiting that magic pill will help.
