Introducing Code Lagos- Lagos State To teach 1 Million Students How To Code

Mums do you want your kids to learn coding? If so, goodnews!! Lagos-State introduces CodeLagos!

CodeLagos is a programme aimed at empowering student in this 21st century. This programme is aimed at teaching computer programming (coding) to all students in Lagos State, with an audacious goal of teaching 1 Million students to code by 2019!!! Wow right?

Introducing Code Lagos- Lagos State To teach 1 Million Students How To CodeThe Lagos State Ministry of Education, in collaboration with the Ministry of Science & Technology, has outlined a strategy to develop a strong network of collaborators spanning private sector players, international agencies, and multinationals across the education and tech industries.

In the ongoing strategic planning stage, tech giants Google, SystemSpecs, and SAP among others have expressed their commitment to the project.

Commenting on the opportunities afforded by the project, the Honourable Commissioner for Economic Planning & Budget (Lagos State), Mr. Akin Ashade said,  “Through the proposed collaborations, CodeLagos will become a self-sustaining, efficiently-driven ecosystem leading to job creation, business opportunities, and the development of a ‘thinking’ society.”

CodeLagos is scheduled to launch in April 2017 in 500 primary, secondary and tertiary institutions (private and public) across Lagos State, as well as in all public libraries. Ahead of the launch private event will be held in early November 2016 to unveil Code Lagos to strategic partners and industry leaders.
