Situational Tuesday- On Support System

Situational Tuesday - On Support System

Yetunde slumped into the chair. Will it always be like this? She is just so tired this morning. Well, she has always been after these her usual hectic mornings.

In her mind she decided to give herself 10 minutes before she goes to get ready for work. Half way through dozing off, a knock on the door brought her to full consciousness. She mumbled. Stood up to go check. “Who is there”? She asked.

She peeped through the peephole. It was Mummy Joy, the woman that sweeps the compound. What does she want? She thought. This time was for her, considering that she wakes up at 4:00 am every morning to get every one ready. The kids for school and of course breakfast for her husband and the children, and the many other chores that comes with it. [RELATED: Are You A Helicopter Parent?]

After all that is done, she then gets ready for week herself- there is just no support system for her. Her husband has refused her getting a house-help, and there is no one in both their families to help her, even if, her husband will agree to it.

She sighed. Opened the door. “Mummy Joy”

“Yes ma” she said. She knelt a little.

“Good morning. What can I do for you this morning?”

“You said I should come see you when I finish sweeping today”

“Oh” Yetunde said, remembering that she was considering telling her to be picking her children from school. The woman is decent, and very humbling.

“What do you do in the afternoons?”  Yetunde asked.

“Nothing for now ma” Mummy Joy said.

“Can you be picking my children from their school everyday and bring them home for me?” Yetunde asked.

“Ha!” Mummy Joy exclaimed “Yes of course ma”. “I can do that” She added again

“Okay then. Thank you Mummy Joy. I will call you later this evening, so that you can come and meet my husband”, Yetunde said. [RELATED: A Mums Mistake]

“Okay ma” Mummy Joy said happily. Yetunde too smiled as she closed the door. This would take a whole lot of load off her. Now all she has to do is convince her husband. He seem to have a soft spot for Mummy Joy, plus we know almost everything about her, where she lives, her children, even her husband” Yetunde thought.

He couldn’t possibly refuse this. Or would he?, she second guessed her thought as she walked back into the house.

Oh shoot! She said as she checked the time. She was definitely late for work. It was worth it she thought.
