The world needs to know,Tell us about Sarah Boulos?
My name is Sarah Boulos. I was born in Burkina Faso, and I’m a mother of four, a dance minister, and a 100X entrepreneurship and trauma coach. I’m also the founder of the Society of the Performing Arts in Nigeria (SPAN) and the owner of Cred International Lagos Island franchise. As a dance coach in Nigeria, I have a passion for teaching and mentoring young people in the performing arts. Along with all these roles, I am a performing arts teacher, a fundraiser, and a Bible study leader. My youngest is 11, and my oldest is 33, making me a proud grandmother too.
You wear many hats—mother, entrepreneur, and performing arts teacher. How do you balance it all?
Balancing everything isn’t always easy, but my faith in Jesus Christ keeps me grounded. I teach performing arts and dance in Nigeria for over 50 hours a week, but I still make time for my family and community. I run a ladies’ Bible study, exercise daily, and even host fitness classes for those who need it. Juggling all these roles requires a strong support system, and I’m grateful to have one that helps me thrive in both my personal and professional life.
What’s something people might find surprising about you?
One thing that might surprise people is that I’m still studying at 53! Despite all my accomplishments, I continue to pursue knowledge and personal growth. I have a degree in biology and public health, but my life took a different direction when I found my purpose in the performing arts in Nigeria. I never expected to become a dance coach, but it’s been the most rewarding path I could have chosen.
Family is everything! Tell us about your beautiful family.
I have four children, each unique and talented in their own way. My children have embraced Nigeria as their home, despite not being born here. My son, Otobo Rebel, is an artist, while my daughter is a TikTok influencer known as Mini Rebel. My family enjoys spending time together—whether it’s watching series, playing games, or praying as a family. My daughter studies at the French Lycée, and my older children have thriving careers in business, architecture, and performing arts. Parenting them has been one of the greatest joys of my life.
How did you meet your husband, and what’s been your secret to such a long-lasting marriage?
I met my husband through family in Lebanon when I was just 17 ½ years old. We’ve been married for 36 years! Although we have very different personalities, we’ve grown together under God’s covenant. My husband is the managing director of SCOA Nigeria PLC, and despite our differences, we always find common ground, especially when it comes to raising our children.
Do you and your husband share the same parenting philosophy?
Not entirely, but that’s okay. We balance each other out and have learned to agree to disagree. Our different perspectives help us bring a more well-rounded approach to parenting, and together, we’ve created a strong foundation for our children.
What’s the funniest thing your kids have said recently?
My kids love to imitate my French-English mix-ups! I once said “J” like “Garri” instead of “G,” and they’ve never let me live it down. Another time, they teased me for how I ranted on the phone with customer service. We always end up laughing, and it’s a reminder of the fun moments we share as a family.
How are you preparing your children for an unpredictable future?
I believe in preparing my children with strong values—prayer, discipleship, and straight talk. I encourage them to be themselves, stay grounded in their faith, and surround themselves with good counsel. In today’s digital world, it’s important that they stand firm in their beliefs, and I strive to raise them with a focus on family and the teachings of Jesus. My work as a dance coach in Nigeria also gives me the opportunity to expose them to creative experiences that help them navigate the unknown.
What inspires you the most in your work as a dance coach and entrepreneur?
The most rewarding part of being a dance coach in Nigeria is watching my students transform. Whether it’s helping them find their creative voice or mastering a new skill, seeing their growth fuels my passion. Becoming a certified Trinity College London exam center through our creative academy (Cred) has allowed me to impact more lives, especially in Lagos Island. I love helping others realize their potential in the performing arts in Nigeria.
How did your journey as a dance coach in Nigeria begin?
My journey started through my Bible study fellowship in 2003. I felt a calling from God to use dance as my ministry. On May 5th, 2003, I had a vision during Bible study, and that moment changed everything. I realized that dance was not just a passion—it was my purpose. Since then, I’ve founded SPAN, and it has been a blessing to serve others and coach them toward their own God-given potential.
How important is a support system for you as a mum? Who is your tribe?
My tribe includes my Bible study fellowship, which has been part of my life for 25 years, as well as other fellowships where we follow Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit guides me in my parenting and professional life, and I surround myself with mentors and friends who help me balance the demands of being a mum and a dance coach in Nigeria.
What has motherhood taught you about yourself?
Motherhood has taught me to love deeply, forgive often, and be resilient. It has made me more empathetic and patient, both as a mother and as a dance coach in Nigeria. I believe that motherhood is one of the greatest gifts and responsibilities, and it constantly challenges me to be my best self.
What’s one motherhood myth you’d love to debunk?
The myth that mothers are always right! We don’t have all the answers, and it’s important to listen to our children. We need to recognize their truths and grow alongside them.
Use one word to describe one thing that should not be missing from every home.
Forgiveness. Every home should be filled with mercy, prayer, and discipleship.
Share one self-care tip. How do you relax and spend time on yourself?
I dance, of course! I also enjoy watching Hallmark movies, stretching, and spending time on my hammock. My massage routines and aerial exercises keep me active and relaxed.
