The first baby of New South Wales was so late that he was the earliest to arrive on New Year’s Day. Kathleen and Paul Bevis waited for their son Elliot for ten days expecting a Christmas miracle but were greeted by their baby boy at 12.27am on January 1. Born at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, young Elliot was shrouded in a blue and white blanket as his adoring parents held him for the first time, bringing in the New Year

Zayden Noel, weighing 7 pounds, 1 ounce, was born to Stephanie Diaz “at exactly midnight” according to New York City Health + Hospitals/Coney Island. LIJ Medical Center in Queens also announced the birth of a baby boy at the “stroke of midnight.” That baby, born to parents Daniella and Eli Malakov. Source: abcnews

Meet the UK’s first baby of 2016 – born at exactly midnight on New Year’s Day. Janaat Azam was born at Glasgow’s Princess Royal Maternity hospital at 00.00am. Adorable: Janaat was born weighing 5lb 1oz . Some 44 women welcomed their bundles of joy at Kenyatta National Hospital and Pumwani Maternity Hospital as Kenyans ushered in the New Year.

Twenty six babies were born at Kenyatta while 18 babies were born at Pumwani. The first at Kenyatta was Chrispine Baraka at 12.06am to Jacklyn Naibei. Her mother could not hide her joy as she termed her baby a blessing since she has been praying God to give her a boy.

Blessing Mumo was the first baby born at Pumwani at 1.10am to Janeliza Wanjala and David Mutala. Mutala said they were preparing to go for New Year night vigil when labour pains came. “I accompanied her to Pumwani and arrived at 11pm.”

Lagos

Wife of Lagos State Governor, Mrs. Bolanle Ambode , Commissioner for Health, Dr. Jide Idris; Special Adviser on Primary Healthcare to the Governor, Dr. Olufemi Onanuga Paid a special visit to the first baby’s in the new year

Ambode’s wife gave this advice when she presented gifts to the first babies born in the early hours of the New Year during visits to Epe General Hospital, Ibeju Lekki General Hospital and Lagos Island Maternity Hospital.

Abuja first baby of the year was born at 1:55am at the Teaching Hospital Gwagwalada. The baby was born to the family of Mr and Mrs Francis Elue from Niger State. The baby weighed 3.9kg
