In its drive toward deepening oral hygiene among children, Pepsodent, a leading global toothpaste brand, has begun the 2025 Pepsodent’s Brush Day and Night’ School Campaign awareness campaign in three locations across the country with the target of reaching 2.7 million pupils.
The initiative, which is part of Pepsodent’s ongoing move to sensitise pupils about oral hygiene, will be carried out in a total of 4,567 schools across 6 locations that include Lagos, Abuja, Kano in this current term and Enugu, Owerri and Port Harcourt in the next term.

Building Lifelong Habits with the 21-Day Brush Day & Night Challenge
At the heart of the campaign is the 21-Day Brush Day and Night Challenge, designed to encourage children to brush their teeth twice daily for at least two minutes — once in the morning and once at night. The scientifically-backed challenge helps develop consistent brushing routines that can prevent tooth decay and improve oral health long-term.
Empowering Children Through Oral Health Education
Speaking on the initiative, Mary Akindola, Brand Manager for Pepsodent, explained that the school-based campaign aims to embed proper oral hygiene habits to Brush Day and Night in children, particularly in underserved communities where access to dental care is limited.
“By teaching pupils to brush twice daily, we’re not just preventing cavities — we’re nurturing a generation of healthy, confident future leaders who can become oral hygiene ambassadors within their communities,” she said.
Investing In Art: A Journey Worth Considering
She also emphasized the link between school absenteeism and poor oral health, highlighting that teaching proper brushing routines at an early age helps reduce preventable dental issues. By encouraging children to brush their teeth twice daily (Brush Day and Night) for at least two minutes, we can significantly reduce the risk of tooth decay. And according to world oral health data,
“Almost half of the global population suffers from cavities. Our school program is Pepsodent’s contribution to reducing that number, starting here in Nigeria,”
Through initiatives like the 21-Day Brush Day and Night Challenge, we aim to instill lifelong good brushing habits in children. When these practices are adopted early, they not only improve oral health but also contribute to a better quality of life in the long term,” she said.
Partnerships That Make a Difference
Gloria Olatunbosun, Consumer Engagement Center Specialist at Unilever, echoed Akindola’s sentiments, stating that the campaign – Pepsodent’s Brush Day and Night’ School Campaign, empowers children with essential knowledge on using fluoride-based toothpaste and maintaining daily brushing routines to reduce long-term oral health issues.
Local authorities also praised the initiative. Barrister Remi-Williams Abiola, Education Secretary of Ajeromi-Ifelodun Local Government Education Authority, commended Pepsodent for its consistent support of oral health education.
“We encourage parents and local governments to partner in sustaining this impactful initiative,” he stated.

Schools Welcome the Campaign
Mrs. Ezeoke Chinenye, Headteacher at Oladipo Primary School 1, Iganmu, expressed gratitude, highlighting that the campaign educates children who may lack access to oral health knowledge at home.
“This program motivates both pupils and schools to take oral hygiene seriously, and we are grateful for the positive impact,” she said.
