St Claire’s Nursery. Founded in January 2014.

 

Please give details of your staff/ administration?

Our faculty members are warm and nurturing trained professionals.

Lead teachers hold degrees in (childhood) education or related fields while assistants are educated and experienced.

All teachers use effective and unique lesson plans to engage children in the learning process.

All staff members have First Aid Certification; and are screened before employment for HIV, Hepatitis B, Typhoid, Tuberculosis etc.

 

What is the ratio of kids to teachers?

0-12 months: 1:2

1-2 years: 1:3

2-3.5 years: 1:4

 

What are the age range of your students?

We care for babies and young children aged 0 to 3.5 years of age.

We also have an afterschool club for children 5 years and below.

 

What is the curriculum/ Teaching methodology to be adopted?

Our curriculum is the Early Years Foundation Stage with with Montesorri resources/materials.

We work hard to equip children with skills needed for success in the 21st century.

Extra-curricular activities available?

Children engage in arts clubs, music and dancing.

 

School Hours and any after school services offered?

We are open from 6:30am to 6:30pm.

Our Home work/after school club begins at 1pm week days only.

How do you access student’s progress?

We assess progress through observations and portfolios. We observe intellectual, social, emotional and physical development on a regular basis; and keep records of material which is collected through the work children have produced through each term.

 

What are the Disciplinary methods adopted?

Children in our care are very young, so . Through mild persuasion and encouragement, we are able to get children to work well in groups stay happy.

We encourage creativity and collaboration, while allowing the students to the lead the way of learning in an inquiry based environment. We also use lesson plans that develop critical thinking skills
