Wife Not Cook

WIFE NOT COOK. WHO ARE YOU?

Wife not cook, who are you? At different times, social media has been on fire (the fire has not quite been put out yet). Opinions relevant to the discussion and otherwise are being thrown out. Some blame it on feminism, some blame it on civilization, some blame it on ignorance, and others…well, they just view and have a good show.

This topic has been around and debated on for years but in an age as tech savvy as his one, all it takes to make it spread again like wildfire is a writer. The kind who would defend, with reasons why his wife does not cook.

Hold on a minute, “What exactly is this topic?” You ask yourself. This topic is – “Wife, not cook”. The kind of topic that seems to be like an awareness or campaign as delicate as “Child, not bride”. There are those who would agree but also, those who would beg to differ.

The whole gist about “Wife, not cook” basically is that women are trying to take equality and men are not all for it. Over the years, cooking has been imposed on women as their job or role in the family. People for this motion believe that, now, the role of cooking should not be put on one gender only (the female gender). #WifeNotCook

These people believe that women can decide if they would want to cook, especially when they become wives. They also believe that women can also admit that they do not know how to cook as it is not a sin because there are those people who are cooks by profession.

In addition to this, here’s what people have to say on various social media concerning this trending topic:

Here’s another opinion said by a lady in a gathering:

“Such ‘movements’ baffle me. We might as well start another one that says, ‘Gateman, still human being’ because those are people who others make feel less than who they are. Tradition should not be mixed with philosophies. Neither should it be abused. Where something is ethical, let it be ethical. After all, there are a lot of lawful things which are unethical, yet we live by them and say, ‘the law says so’. Oh well, to some people ‘tradition says so’. How then do we live?

We should try as much as possible not to let our ideas to conflict or contradict for the sake of the younger generation.

The truth is, when a woman is married, she ought to be a lot of things and that includes being a mother. A mother is a wife, a friend, a cook, a business woman etc. and a host of other things but all those don’t make her less of who she is.

To the parents, teach your children to cook. Teach your boys to cook. Teach your girls to cook. Don’t teach your boys that, girls belong in the kitchen. Don’t teach your girls that being in the kitchen hinders them from achieving great success in life. Teach your boys and girls that there is not harm in taking turns when it comes to cooking. To whom can, let him/her do it.
