Private Book Launch
The private book launch event, held on Friday, December 20th, 2024, in Lagos, Nigeria, was a landmark celebration of Yetty’s decade-long impact on parenting advocacy. With a packed room of parents, educators, and thought leaders, the event featured dynamic panels that explored the complexities of digital parenting, the challenges of technology, and strategies for fostering digital well-being.

A Decade of Impact
Over ten years ago, Yetty Williams founded LagosMums, Nigeria’s foremost parenting community, reaching over 1.5 million people annually. With this book, Digital Savvy Parenting, Yetty solidifies her position as a leading digital parenting coach, trained in online safety, child safeguarding, and cybersecurity.
Speaking at the event, Yetty unveiled her framework of four unique digital parenting styles, which she describes as a starting point for parents to assess their current approach and set intentional goals for transformation. “This book,” Yetty explains, “is like having a personal digital parenting coach in your hands. It offers strategies to foster trust, reduce conflict, and create a safer, more connected digital environment for families.”

The event included several thought-provoking panels featuring Dr. Renner (aka The Noisy Pediatrician), offering insights into children’s early years. Dr. Joy Isa, an education consultant, discusses how important it is for educationists to be digitally savvy. And Yetty Williams, the author herself, discusses the concept of the e-village and the book’s transformative tools for effective parenting in the digital age. Dr. Abiola Salami moderated the panel.
A youth panel also provided fresh perspectives. It allowed attendees to hear directly from young people about their experiences with technology and social media. This panel included Munachi Mbonu, Temitope Williams, and Tari Doherty. The panel was moderated by Adebowale Adewole and gave an insight into thee youth’s experience with digital-savvy parenting.
The event had Dr Toyin Sanni share a keynote with the audience and was the venue sponsor through her TF Sanni Foundation. Other notable guests included The Catalyst, Lanre Olusola, who wrote the forward for the book; Nimi Akinkugbe, former Nigerian ambassador to Greece; Kaline, AMVCA Award-winning Film Composer; and Dr Orode Doherty.

The E-Village: A New Approach to Community Parenting
A recurring theme of the event was Yetty’s belief in the concept of the e-village. Expanding on the traditional idea that “it takes a village to raise a child.” Yetty emphasized the need for an informed, connected, and skilled e-village of digital parents.
“Today, it takes an e-village to raise a child,” Yetty explained. “This means equipping parents to recognize red flags, guide children toward positive digital interactions, and extend community support into online spaces where children and young adults spend their time.”
