What Easter Really Celebrates (Resurrection Day)

Easter is more than what the commercial side makes it out to be. It’s not just about Easter chocolates, Egg hunts, frejon and the Easter Bunny. Easter is a time to remember the ultimate sacrifice that Jesus Christ made on the cross.

Jesus Christ was sent to earth in the form of man and was crucified on the cross for us, for our sins, so that we might be saved. He was sent down from heaven to earth and had to be crucified as part of God’s plan of salvation for us.

Jesus Christ was whipped, and treated very badly by people. He suffered and ultimately was crucified on the cross for us. It happened this way because this is how God said it would happen. When anyone watches the Passion of Christ you feel the real pain of what Jesus must have gone through.

Jesus was then brought down from the cross and buried but he didn’t stay dead, he had power over death!! On the third day, Jesus Christ was resurrected; he rose from the dead! This was part of God’s plan to give us a gift of salvation that no one can take away from us.

What Easter Really Celebrates

Jesus paid for our debt and sins so that we may be saved. He has taken our sickness so that we are healed. He is at the right hand of God in heaven and is there as our intercessor pleading on our behalf. Now we know that he will grant us anything we ask in his name.

Coming down to earth in the form of flesh, meant that he went through all the temptations and things that you and I face so He understands what we go through and as He is in heaven at the right hand side of God He pleads on our behalf. There is no other mediator needed other than Jesus Christ. He has also been so kind to give us another gift in the form of the Holy Spirit who lives within us.

So when we think of Easter, we should remember that God had a plan and He always has a plan. God sent Jesus Christ, the second and last Adam, a perfect person who didn’t sin to die for our sins. He was a blameless and perfect sacrifice. Everyone that believes in Jesus Christ, that He shed his blood for us, and resurrected after paying the ultimate sacrifice, is saved and does not have to die any longer because we have access to eternal life.

What a gift ‘Easter” really is. Happy Easter!
