Mount St Mary’s College

Attend Mount St Mary’s College Admissions Presentation!

Mrs Victoria McAllister, Director of Admissions for Mount St Mary’s College, will be in Lagos from Sunday 31st March – Friday 5th April and would be delighted to meet prospective families and students on a personal basis.

Mount St Mary’s College in 2019 is a vibrant and thriving school. Although much has changed in its remarkable history the Mount preserves and cherishes its Jesuit identity; Care of the individual and the pursuit of excellence are at the heart of everyday life.

Whilst the majority of the students at the school are from the local area, around 20% of students come from countries around the world. Students come to live alongside the British students from many European countries as well as many from further afield including Mexico, Chile, Fiji, the Middle East, Hong Kong, China, Nigeria and Ivory Coast to name a few. This creates a diverse, cosmopolitan environment, reflective of the wider world, where students learn to live and work alongside one another, preparing for all that comes next.

The Mount’s links with Nigeria are long and strong. Like our sister schools in Abuja and Port Harcourt, Loyola Jesuit, the Mount has a strong focus on academic excellence and works hard to ensure students achieve highly and progress to some of the very best universities. In recent years we have had a Nigerian Head Girl who performed impressively and this year we have a cohort of exceptional, high achieving Nigerian boys and girls who are blazing an impressive trail.

Sport has been a long-standing area of strength at the Mount. And whilst rugby and hockey remain strong and successful sports, the Mount has moved with the times and offers a broad range of sporting opportunities in athletics, cricket, swimming, fencing, shooting, pentathlon, biathlon, fitness and much more. The investment in facilities and staff means the Mount offers a sports program that ensures that all students are able to access sport throughout their week, whether as a novice or at the elite level that a notable number achieve.

The reputation for excellence in Music is well established. Throughout the year the various choirs, individuals and ensembles create highlights for all to enjoy. Over 75% of students at the preparatory school Barlborough Hall play at least one instrument and more than 40% at the senior school do so. Concerts are performed each term and whilst the showcase Academy Concert tops the bill at the end of May, many other opportunities to perform are offered. Friends of the school and members of the wider community are always welcome to attend.

Each year, members of the Senior Leadership Team from the Mount travel to Nigeria to meet with our current parents, present school reports, meet and interview prospective students and to continue to strengthen our links.

Whilst the appointment schedule is booking up quickly, a number of appointments are available on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday of that week. To make an appointment email [email protected] as soon as possible.
