Does it matter what Beyonce really looks like?

I watched a video by this guy on Youtube that is titled “Beyonce Exposed| Prosthetic Breast| Fake butt| bleached skin| fake pregnancy | without makeup”

The presentation was full of various pictures of Beyonce at different times to show that all the different parts of her body have been enhanced in some form. Including supposed imagery to suggest that her pregnancy was fake and what she looks like without makeup.

I watched it almost to end about to shut it off concluding that he was bored and in addition who really cares. Just before the end he mentioned that it bothers him that there are young girls with insecurities going around trying to look like these picture perfect women believing that these women really look like that.

If you look around you do realize that is true! You have more and more people striving to look like these entertainers who are just doing their jobs and are  “performing and acting” when they dress up in certain ways (including padding). According to the pictures he showed some included her on seemingly normal days as a relaxed woman with regular sized assets. The minute she is on stage either singing or going to an award show she is usually enhanced and looks all glammed up.

So we do have to teach our young girls and ladies and the men too that this is not real! If you look on the street today, at the mall and anywhere most women are at different levels of looking like what these artists look like and what the industry has defined as attractive.  Waist length weave on, fake eyelashes, high heels, borderline outrageous dressing – you know them the tight, revealing clothes. You also have young men who get carried away with thinking that this is what makes a lady attractive – looking like a picture perfect model. I heard of a story where a young man broke off his engagement because he walked in when his fiance was getting a weave put in and he noticed she was almost bald! he couldn’t believe she didn’t have any hair of her own and he felt he had been deceived to believe she had nice long hair – maybe a bit drastic but it does make a point.

So I guess it does matter if this is the impression and or standard that our young girls and ladies are aspiring to. We have to remind ourselves to teach them that when these people look like this – they are simply “performing” and it is a job to them. They probably do not look like that everyday when they are not in front of the camera. They are selling what the feel their audience wants and the desires of the secular world! They are thinking of how they will look on camera and on the pages of the magazine. They are portraying an image that makes them seem perfect.  After all a woman going to an owambe with gele, ikpele and wrapper is decked out to look a certain way for an event – you will not find anyone dressing like that on a daily basis!

The focus should be on being a good person from inside out. Of course there is nothing wrong with being well dressed, using some makeup and following the trends somewhat but the key thing is that girls (and the men who are admiring them) should not compare themselves to people who are paid not to be real!
