Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg Advice To New Born Daughter

Co-Founder and CEO of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg and his wife Priscilla Chan just welcomed their second daughter, August, to the world. To mark the occasion, they posted a sweet note to her on Facebook. For the second time, Mark Zuckerberg has turned to his own platform to pen a personal message to a newborn daughter.

The Zuckerberg’s celebrated the birth of daughter August by urging her to enjoy childhood, spending time smelling the flowers.

“I hope you read your favorite Dr. Seuss books so many times you start inventing your own stories about the Vipper of Vipp. I hope you ride the carousel with Max until you’ve tamed every color horse. I hope you run as many laps around our living room and yard as you want.”

Mark Zuckerberg wrote that he and wife, Priscilla Chan, wanted to take a different tack with August, after a 2015 letter to their first daughter Max that called on her to do her part in bettering the world and living a better life than her parents. The world he imagined for Max Involved advances in medicine, technology, and greater equality.

It seems that Mark Zuckerberg and his wife have realised that “all work and no play, makes Jack a dull boy” and have decided that even though there’s much to be done in making the world a better place, they want their newborn daughter August to focus more on the positives and enjoy her childhood- as you only get to be a child once.

In his letter to August, Zuckerberg wrote: “Childhood is magical, You only get to be a child once, so don’t spend it worrying too much about the future.” They also wrote: “Even though headlines often focus on what’s wrong, we still believe these positive trends will win out. We’re optimists about your generation and the future.”

When their first daughter Max arrived, Chan and Mark Zuckerberg had a vision of the world they wanted to create and the part they wanted her to play in making a change in her generation. On the arrival of their second daughter August, they knew how to envision childhood. They know that the time for fixing inequality will come. But For now, let’s stop to smell the roses!

Having previously resolved to travel to and engage in conversations in all U.S. states this year, Mark Zuckerberg took to Facebook earlier this month to say that he would be taking a two-month paternity leave, with one month off after the birth of August, followed by taking December off.
