Importance Of A Foundation Course

We can all agree that there are not that many electric cars in the market, yet it still takes us a long time to decide which one is right for us. With choices from; the range, location, number of charging points, tax benefits, and purchase price, to name but a few. The desired outcome is the sam; to transport us safely from Point A to Point B in a timely, cost-efficient, and even ethical manner.

The majority of international students, who come to the UK for post-16 study are also looking out for a common outcome. They want to be able to obtain entry to a reputable UK university.

The traditional route has always been an A-level journey of two years. However, the  International Baccalaureate has made a few changes recently. Some of which include that the BTech, and Foundation are both now included.

The foundation route has become increasingly popular. This is not just because it is a one year program; but also because students now have access to the course without synoptic assessment or public examination.

Universities accept various foundation courses; many of which focus on English for academic purposes as a primary area of study, with an overall IELTS score of 6.0/6.5.

Dukes Foundation Program

In formulating the Dukes University Foundation program, we have created a course that is attractive to both top UK universities and students.

The course offers precise academic pathways:

  • STEM (moderated by Cardiff Sixth Form College)
  • BEM (Business, Economics, and Management), Humanities and Creative Arts moderated by Earlscliffe.

In addition, Academic English shapes part of the program. The academic knowledge, and skills delivered in the four pathways are at the core of the course.

The academic course content comprises; A-level material and practical skills. In addition, there is a continuous assessment of the students by tests, assignments, extended essays, and exams. These all help to stimulate our students and gives the university confidence in them.

Students are to arrive on campus during autumn, well prepared to succeed as an undergraduate. And ready for meaningful contribution to university life accordingly.
