Please tell us about yourself?

My name is Adedamola Ladejobi; I used to be overweight by 35kg which I have lost and have maintained for over 2 years now. My educational qualification is as a lawyer, but now I am a certified Personal Nutritionist and weight loss Expert/Coach. I have a diploma in Nutrition and Weight loss. I worked as an Educationist for five years before I ventured into weight management which I’m glad has really helped thousands of people all over the world.

Can you tell us about your beautiful family?

I have been married to my king for over 7 years, blessed with two kids, ages 7 and 3 years old, both born via caesarian section. I am certainly what you might call a ‘’fit foodie” I like reading food-related research and I like writing food-related blog posts. Eating healthy and delicious foods is important to me and I absolutely like learning about the health benefits and medicinal properties of the foods we eat!

What are some of your New Year goals?

My goals are to continue to lead a healthy lifestyle, to be the NUMERO UNO WEIGHT LOSS CONSULTANT IN NIGERIA.

Tell us about your journey to motherhood?

Well my story is not all peaches and cream, but the journey so far has taught me that not every day is going to be perfect! It has made me a stronger person, it has made me love and respect my husband even more than I thought I could.

When I had my second son, he was five months old and I found out that he had no vision in both eyes and he had to undergo cataract surgery, which was successful. During that period it was really challenging, but I was able to pull through with the help of God. Each day is worth it as I am raising my children.

How has being a mum changed you?

Having a baby really does change just about everything in your life. Agreed, you are still the same person but once your baby comes to the world everything changes, even the wonderful transformation that is pregnancy changed me and made me realize how strong and beautiful the female body really is.

Loving and raising children builds character, strength, makes you Worship and praise God differently, it makes you view the world in a different light. The ups and downs will edit who you are as a person but every part the journey is a blessing.

What support system do you have?

My amazing family and everyone on Team AskDamz (go team).

Is your husband a hands on father ?

Even though he is busy at times, he is always there when it comes to raising the children.

How is raising children today different from the past?

Raising children was very different for many people in the past compared to how children are raised today.

Back in the day we would get smacked if we misbehaved, we didn’t earn praise except we came first in class and things like that (though this was dependent on the family or culture in the household). These days parenting skills and modes of punishment has changed which I view as a positive change.

On parenting styles

I know of parents who adopt a reward system (a reward for achieving a family set goal), a consequence system (where every negative action would earn you a punishment), a speech and withdrawal system (where when your child messes up, you advise them and make them understand the consequences of their action and then you take away something from them as a consequence), and so much more some people mix it up.

You have to know your child, every child is different. I believe that there should be more conversation between child and parent or guardian.

What is the funniest thing you’ve heard your children say?

My husband said “come on you guys are late” then my daughter whispered,  “You should have started yelling at us earlier”

 Tell us about AskDamz

AskDamz is a platform I built to help people achieve their weight management goals. I achieve this by empowering people with knowledge and leading a healthy lifestyle while enjoying everything you love to eat, the healthiest way possible.

AskDamz started as a personal journey and it has grown into a passion, helping people achieve their body goals, educating people on nutrition, seeing people make better healthier decisions, seeing people more confident gives me so much joy and fulfilment.

How can busy mums adopt healthy living into their busy lifestyles?

By making conscious decisions on what they eat. Proper structuring and documentation of what you eat and when you eat. You need an accountability system, such as written down goals or a coach that would monitor and aid your progress.

I would advise mothers to encourage everyone in the household to adopt a healthy lifestyle, build an in-house fit fam.

Is it possible for mums to get back into shape after children?

Yes it is possible, I am a testament to getting back into shape after children. We at Askdamz offer you knowledge and action plans on how to achieve your desired goal. We teach proper nutrition, how to prepare meals, proper ways to structure a timetable and goal book to help you achieve your weight goals.

How do you relax? Do you get to spend me-time?

Relaxation for me is either spending a full day with my family and eating out, lol (fit foodie). I also relax by getting a full spa day massage, manicure, pedicure and reading something motivational. My me-time is when I am having a quiet time with God.

What is that one thing that makes you uniquely you?

I’m passionate about helping people

Tell us in one word something you believe should not be missing from every home?

GOD!!

What do you think makes LagosMums special?

LagosMums is special because of the love and support that they show to other mums. They motivate, inspire and encourage mothers to achieve whatever we set out to achieve and I appreciate that.

Has the economy changed your spending patterns?

Yes it has and now I definitely make wiser, more calculating decisions before spending.
