What Makes Education at Cardiff Sixth Form College Different.

In a discussion with Henrietta Lightwood; ”Director of Marketing and Admissions”, she gives more insights on various important admission processes.

First, It is important to test all the students coming to Cardiff to measure their understanding of the subjects. Then, the various subjects to be studied at A-Level will be measured to ensure it matches each student’s career aspirations.

Cardiff is very interested in what the students enjoy and excel at, therefore students’ school reports will be examined to help have a proper understanding of the candidate. The students will then undertake a GL assessment which will test their probability of doing well in their subjects at an advanced level.

Often students do well in maths, physics, and chemistry might struggle for a fourth subject. So for those who want to study Medicine, for example, biology, which includes the requirement to write essays, can be a stumbling block. This is especially for those who do not have a sufficient grasp of the English language.

Cardiff Sixth College Student Support

Cardiff Sixth Form College is ”the Cambridge of the Uk School World”, gaining a place as one of the top schools in the UK we have found students find this an honour to be associated with.

Hayley Bendle; ”Cardiff’s Head of Careers” highlights more on the individual support every Cardiff student is given once they arrive at the College. “In the first week a student arrives, we undertake one complete week of induction. This includes one to one academic interviews with personal tutors to ensure that the subjects a student is taking fit with their profile”.

Students will be assigned tasks to achieve, with a two-year program assigned to each student. They will also be provided invaluable feedback and support on what they are doing well and what can be improved to maximize their chances.

Cardiff Sixth Form students are treated as young adults, the idea behind this is to help them take control of their own destinies and enable them to build the skills they require both academically and personally to succeed and realize their dreams.
