Recipe Of The Week – How To Make Minced Meat Semolina Pancake

Our recipe of the week is Minced Meat Semolina Pancake. This is quite an interesting switch from the regular pancakes. It’ll be a great way to spice up your breakfast in a healthy way and it comes in handy for when you need to make pancakes but there’s no flour at home.

In the past, we’ve had Yam and Egg Pancakes, Nutella stuffed fluffy pancakes and Bailey’s pancakes and we’re delighted to add this to our pancake family. This amazing, easy to cook recipe was found on 1Q Food Platter. Do try it out, we’d love to get your feedback.

 Minced Meat Semolina Pancake

Semolina Base Recipe

1 cup Semovita

1 1/2 cups milk

1/4 cup Sugar or Honey

1/2 teaspoon Baking powder

1 Egg

1/4 cup meted Butter

Pinch of cinnamon

Method

  1. Measure semovita into a bowl, add the baking powder and cinnamon and mix well
  2. Dissolve the butter in  a pan over heat and allow to cool a bit
  3. Beat the egg, pour into the melted butter
  4. Add the sugar and milk into the butter and egg and mix well
  5. Next pour liquid ingredients into dry ingredients and stir with a fork until all the semovita dissolves.

Recipe for Minced Meat Semolina Pancake

Minced Meat Recipe

3/4 Cup of raw Minced Meat

1 tablespoon Chopped Onion

1/2 teaspoon each of chopped red, green and red bell peppers

A few sticks of spring onions (optional)

1/2 teaspoon minced Ginger

Pinch Rosemary

1/2 teaspoon minced Garlic

1 Beef seasoning cube

1/4 teaspoon Suya spice

1/2 cooking spoon vegetable oil

1 tablespoon Butter for frying the pancake

Minced meat semolina pancake

Method

  1. Add the seasoning, suya pepper, minced garlic and ginger. Mix well and set aside
  2. Heat the oil and fry the onion for about 1 minute
  3. Add the meat and fry, using a fork to separate the meat so it does not form one big lump
  4. Lower the heat, cover the pot and cook for about 5 minutes
  5. Finally, add the peppers and cook for 1 minute
  6. Allow the meat to cool and add to the semolina batter and mix well
  7. Heat a little butter in a frying pan and scoop the batter into the pan, then fry till cooked and brown on both sides.
  8. Serve warm with pepper sauce
