The Principal of Wellspring College, a co-educational school in Lagos State, Mrs Oluwayemisi Oloriade, commended the parents of the students for instilling morals in their children. She took delight in praising the Parents of the Class of 2022 Graduating set, for their collaborative effort with the school in instilling sound morals in the students. She made this commendation earlier in August during the school’s 17th Valedictory Service and Graduation Ceremony for the Class of 2022 known as the “Amazons.”In her speech, Mrs Oloriade observed that the responsibility of raising a child is one that most parents in today’s world have neglected, even with glaring resultant effects.
The school principal noted that Wellspring College parents differ because of their valuable collaboration with the school to give the young minds a sound moral and academic foundation.”Your role as a family in the success story of today’s graduands is highly appreciated. You have made our job as educators significantly less stressful and we are most grateful”, she noted. The Principal also affirmed that the founders of the school have done well, building a legacy for the nation by contributing their quota to educational development which is key in any progressive society.
Speaking also at the event, a parent and mother of the valedictorian, Mrs Mayokun Adekunle, said she has no regret that her son is a product of the college as the students are attitudinally and academically firmly rooted to be productive members of society. She urged other parents to always be actively involved in the life of their wards knowing full well that the journey of nurturing a responsible child must begin in the home.
Mrs Adekunle further advised mothers to teach their wards sex education early enough and ensure they help their girl-child develop their self-esteem at all times. Another parent, Mrs Funsho Oyelohunnu, also reiterated the need for society to do more for the girl-child through proper education and exposure that can give them the required edge.
Maintaining that Wellspring College is a school that gives students a robust educational experience, not only in terms of academics but also in spiritual, moral and innovative learning. Mrs Oyelohunnu acknowledged that parents will happily recommend Wellspring College to others. Emmanuel Isimoya, a board member of the college, reiterated Wellspring’s commitment to educating the total child. He noted that the College is a place to be for students who desire a robust learning experience.”Our vision is to go beyond academics and groom our students to compete favourably on the global stage. We have remodelled our curriculum by integrating leadership, entrepreneurship and tech skills as central aspects of their learning.
The students graduating today are worthy ambassadors of the school. “In the 2022 graduating class, called “The Amazons”, Adekunle Oluwatobi, emerged as the valedictorian – and equally has recorded one of the best results in the 2022 UME and WASSCE.
