Nigerian author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie launched a “Wear Nigerian” campaign in May 2017 and since then, she wears mostly Nigerian brands for her public appearances. This is in a bid to support and promote local designers. She is using her style-icon status to support local designers from Nigeria through her Wear Nigerian campaign.
Several designers have benefited from this great cause. Some of these designers are Gozel Green, ForStyleSake, The Muse Factory, Lola Baej, Zinkata amongst others.

To furthermore support local designers, Chimamanda Adichie organized a ‘Wear Nigerian’ event some days ago here in Lagos. The event was tagged Live in Lagos with Maria Grazia Chiuri and Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. The event was organized and put together to enlighten designers about the future of fashion in Africa.
Maria Grazia Chiuri, the creative director at Dior was present at the event, including several fashion designers and fashion influencers.
